a pot of gold

Rainbow

there's a pot of gold at the end of every rainbow. or so they say. gold. money. wealth. are those the contents of that magical pot? i believe not.

i saw a rainbow yesterday as i was moving along the streets of the city and it made me stop and think (literally). with everything that transpired in the last few months / in the last year, it's so easy to just say that we are doomed - the institutions that supposedly hold everything together are falling apart, mother nature herself seems to be on a large campaign to make us see the error in our ways. but then, you see strangers becoming friends, enemies becoming brothers and sisters, love forcing itself out in the midst of hate, suffering and turmoil.

at this day and age, the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow no longer represents the tangible stuff. it now represents us. people, individuals, citizens of this world who hand in hand should work to make things better. the way i see it, the old cliche should be put to heart, "be the change you want to see in this world" - no matter how little, tiny or small, an act of caring, an act of friendship, an act of love can and will make a ripple that will create multitudes of ripples that will eventually change humanity and our world as we know it.
